At Lavender Lane Photography, we believe that maternity photography is a celebration of motherhood, and we’re here to answer your most common questions to make sure your experience is unforgettable.

Q. When is the best time to book my maternity photography session?
A: We recommend booking your maternity session at the beginning of your second trimester to secure your most ideal date. Maternity photos are best taken when you are between 30-32 weeks as this is the most ideal and safe time for photos within your pregnancy, and allows for any wet weather reschedules with ample time before your birthing window.
Q. How much does a maternity photography session cost at Lavender Lane Photography?
A: Our maternity photography packages start from as low as $600, with our popular Belly to Baby package starting at $1050. Each package includes a gown fitting with the inclusion of 3 gowns to use during your session, professional editing, high-resolution digital images, and the option to purchase more of your beautiful gallery images post session.
Q. How long does a maternity photography session take?
A: Our maternity sessions go for approximately 1 hour. This allows plenty of time for us to capture your beautiful images across your chosen location as well as switch between gowns and background locations. We never rush our sessions to ensure both you and your family are comfortable and happy throughout.
Q. What should I bring to my maternity photography session?
A: Please bring:
– your nude underwear and strapless bra (If you would like to include any white lace or other options, please feel free to)
– Slip on shoes for yourself
– Clothing for partners, children or family who will be attending. (Please arrive dressed and ready)
– Any special items you’d like included in photos
We provide the 3 gowns selected in your gown fitting and bring them to the location with us.
Q. Where do the maternity photography sessions take place?
A: We have multiple options for maternity locations for you to select from depending on your ideal feel and style. We have our Bribie Island location, for a more beachy feel to your session. We also offer a location in North Lakes that showcases golden light through tall wispy grass, And finally we have our Nudgee location, which has a beautiful serene forestry feel with a slight open field for variety.
Q. Do you offer a studio session option for a maternity session?
A: Yes! We love doing studio sessions in our beautiful Chermside West based Studio. We offer the option of taking your maternity session indoors and use a mixture of a light and bight feature wall as well as solid colour backdrops for a bit more variety within the session.
Q. What gowns are included in a maternity session?
A: you can view our full online gallery in our DRESS CATALOGUE blog. We offer a full range of different colours, fits and styles to suit every expecting mother. Our maternity dresses are made with expecting mothers in mind and are made to fit all bellies of all shapes and sizes. We offer every booking the option to come on in and do a gown fitting to ensure they love each dress they choose before your photography session.
Q. Can my partner/Children/Family be included in my photos?
A: Absolutely! We highly recommend getting your family to be apart of this special moment, capturing this beautiful pregnancy before your family grows bigger. We send you guided information on what your family can wear during your session that would complement your chosen gowns beautifully.
Q. Do you help with posing during the maternity photography session?
A: Yes! We understand that posing does not come naturally and we are here to help guide and encourage you through your maternity photography session. We have a bunch of poses up our sleeves that will empower you and make you fall in love with your final gallery that much more. We also take a lot of candid shots such as walking, being playful with each other and/or your older children, as well as any different family dynamics.
Q. Do you offer maternity and newborn photography packages?
A: Yes! Our popular Belly to Baby package combines both maternity and newborn sessions, starting from $1050. This package allows you to document your entire journey and saves you money compared to booking separately.
Q. How many photos will I receive?
A: Each package includes a different number of professionally edited digital images. You’ll have an online gallery to select your favorite images from, and we offer the option to purchase additional images or upgrade your package after viewing.
Q. When will I receive my photos?
A: Your online gallery will be ready for viewing within 2-3 weeks after your session. Once you’ve selected your images, your final edited collection will be delivered within an additional 2-3 weeks.
